UK Avant Garde & Portrait Photographer of the year 2006
On the 29th of October Maria was awarded a top prize in a major national photography awards ceremony.
As well as winning the ‘Avant Garde Portrait’ category Maria also scooped the overall ‘UK Portrait Photographer of the year 2006’ title in the 2006 British Professional Photography Awards (BPP Awards).
Maria took the coveted title after beating off stiff competition – leading photographers across the world submit their images to the Awards.
Maria also won 3 Awards of Excellence, again in the Avant Garde Portrait category, as well as the Under 5's category.
This was in addition to 6 merits,in the categories of Classical Portrait, Avant Garde Portrait & Pictorial/illustrative.
Over 3000 entries were submitted to this year's awards.
Maria was amongst hundreds of professional photographers and trade representatives that attended the glittering awards ceremony on 29th October at the Hilton Hotel in Coventry.
The hotly contested awards are a joint initiative between the Master Photographers Association (MPA) and the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP).
Fujfilm Envisage Photography Awards - MERIT OCTOBER 2006
The Envisage Photography Awards are run by leading photographic company, Fujifilm and winning a Merit award is a great accolade for any photographer.
Maria has won 3 merits for February 2006 , 1 in April, 1 in May,1 in September, and one in October so far. Her 7 images now go forward to the final where there is a prize of £1,000 up for grabs. The cash prize will be presented to the subject of the winning image and the overall winning photographer wins a trophy.
